To put things in perspective: India has nearly 225 million television households in total (as of 2025), translating to close to 900 million individuals who watch TV in some form. Even taking the higher end, CTV homes would be at most around 20–25% of the total TV homes currently. More conservative counts (around 20–25 million CTV households in 2022–2023) put CTV at only ~10% of TV households. Going forward, this share will rise – projected to ~30% by 2025 (with 65 million connected homes), but CTV will still leave a majority of TV households un-reached if used alone.
In essence, linear TV’s reach in India (spanning hundreds of millions of viewers across urban and rural areas) dwarfs the connected TV audience at present. The CTV landscape is growing on a small base; it is not yet a replacement for traditional TV’s massive scale. Instead, CTV is carving out a complementary space.
