The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the 2024 season, scheduled for Tuesday, December 19, is a much-anticipated event as all 10 teams are gearing up to enhance their squads. They aim to strategically acquire new talent to boost their chances of clinching the title in the next summer. A significant pool of 333 players, including 214 from India, is set to be auctioned. The teams have a total of 77 slots to fill, with a provision for up to 30 overseas players.

The auction carries a high level of excitement, especially with 23 players having set their reserve price at Rs 2 crore, marking them in the highest bracket. Additionally, 13 players have set a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. This auction is notable for its international venue – for the first time, it will be held outside India, at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

This landmark venue selection signifies the global appeal and growing stature of the IPL. Representatives from all 10 teams will be present at the event, each aiming to strategically build a robust team.

The IPL auction 2024 is set to start at 2:30 pm Indian Standard Time. Fans in India can catch the live action on the Star Sports Network, ensuring widespread accessibility to the event. 

Additionally, for those preferring to watch online, the auction will be streamed on the JioCinema website and on the JioCinema app for smartphone users. These multiple viewing platforms ensure that a wide audience can witness the thrilling auction process, irrespective of their location or preferred device.
