By reaching more than 43 Mn households, DD FreeDish has now become the largest DTH platform in India. The Free DTH service of Doordarshan has garnered almost 100% growth, that is from 22 Mn in 2017 to 43 Mn in 2022. 

Viacom18 has consolidated its movie channels portfolio under the umbrella of ‘COLORS Cineplex’. The channel ‘COLORS Cineplex Superhits’ has been introduced by the network which went live on April 1, 2022.

As per Industry experts, AI is now enabling several innovations in the digital media which will boost contextual advertising that is less intrusive. Advertisers are trying to come up with alternatives to personalized tracking which forms the base of digital advertising, which is estimated to cross Rs 48,000 Cr in India in 2022. (Source: E4M)

Poker Sports League, which is India’s biggest poker tournament, has partnered with VOOT as its official streaming partner for Season 4 of PSL. The live streaming of the finale will be on April 21, 22, and 23. 

According to the ‘India: Online Video Trends’ report by Omdia, in 2021 OTT platforms in India invested almost $500 Mn in original content. Amongst the India OTT services, Eros Now tops the list. Hotstar, Zee Sony and Viacom18 are stepping up to compete with the US giants.

The print media sector in India is estimated to bring 20% topline growth at Rs 27,000 cr in fiscal year ‘23 in comparison to Rs 22,500 cr seen in the year 2022, according to rating agency Crisil. In 2022, the revenue has increased by an estimated 22%, to Rs 22,500 cr, from Rs 18,600 cr in 2021.

According to BARC weekly data, the following were the top 5 paid TV channels in week 12 (19th March – 25th March 2022) – 

Paid– Star Utsav, Dhinchaak, Star Maa, Sun TV, Star Plus.
