The last few years have been pretty challenging for the English Entertainment GEC category. Disney-Star India will discontinue its three English channels- Star World HD, Star World and Star World Premier HD from November 31, 2021.

Television channel broadcasters have moved against Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) decision to cap the channel prices at Rs. 12 from the 1st of December.

MSOs have even requested the Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India to put a cap on the channel prices for the benefit of the audiences. Because the increase in channel prices by the broadcasters has defeated the purpose of the New Tariff Order regime.

Advertising income of Times Internet for fiscal year 21 has surged 26% that is, upto Rs 621.27 crore. The net loss of the company has narrowed 79% that is, from Rs 196.06 to Rs 40.53.

The revenue of Netflix India for FY21 zooms 66% to Rs 1529 crore. The growth in revenue is largely driven by sustained membership growth and a pull in new members due to Covid-19.

Short-video platforms are likely to drive more ad revenue growth due to the festive season. Indian short video platforms have built strong audience reach, and are pulling in a lot of brands for the ad money. 

52% of Twitter users have taken the virtual route for festive shopping. There had been over 13.51 million conversations on Twitter regarding online shopping in India, between September 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021. This records an almost 97% year-on-year growth.

Ram Ratings for Week 36-Week 39: Fever FM leading in Mumbai and Delhi. Radio City in Bangalore and Radio Mirchi led in Kolkata between Aug 29th and Sep 25th.
