BARC India has finally resumed the ratings for individual channels in the news genre. It has released data on March 17 for the week 10, 2022. BARC has followed the industry-wide consultative method, the Augmented Data Reporting Standards that has been developed by the BARC team and BARC TechComm for news and special interest channels. 

ShareChat, the parent company of the short video platform Moj, has reported an increase of 764% in advertising revenue for FY21. The owner of these platforms, Mohalla Tech is witnessing tremendous growth in its number of users, especially in ShareChat, Moj and Jeet11, the online gaming platform. 

Zee Media witnessed a spike in viewership due to its Election Day coverage, surpassing its competitor channels. Zee Hindustan, Zee News, and Zee UPUK, which falls under Zee Media performed tremendously well in comparison to their competitors. (Source: E4M)

‘Aaj Tak’ was the most searched keyword during the counting hours of the assembly elections. The news channel crossed over 1 Million searches on Google and created a benchmark on YouTube Live for being the most popular news channel on the platform. 

Strict action has been taken against 15 TV channels by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, by prohibiting transmission for a period of time. The MIB has even blocked 56 YouTube-based news channels along with their social media profiles for public access. 

Disney Star renewed the exclusive broadcast rights for Premier League (football) for the next 3 seasons, that is from 2022/23 to 2024/25 for the Indian sub-continent. Because of this extension, the Indian broadcaster is going to be associated with the football league for more than 2 decades. 

The Indian gaming industry is growing at an exponential rate for the past few years, with more than 450 Million active gamers. RAM Ratings Week 03’22-Week 06’22: Fever FM claimed the top spot in Mumbai and Delhi again. Big FM retains the position in Bangalore, while Mirchi claims the top position in the Kolkata chart.

BARC’s top 5 advertisers of week 10 (5th March – 11th March 2022)  are – Hindustan Lever Ltd, Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd, Coca Cola India Ltd, Procter & Gamble, Cadburys India Ltd.

According to BARC weekly data, the following were the top 5 paid TV channels in week 10 (5th March – 11th March 2022) – Star Maa, Sun TV, STAR Plus, Star Utsav, and Dhinchaak.
