In a recent announcement, the Karnataka High Court stated that public transport vehicles like buses including BMTC buses and autos would have to stop using banned plastic materials in their advertisements. Currently, vinyl is the most preferred material for bus advertising and auto advertising.

HC also stated that only fabric and paper can be used for advertising on the outdoor advertising options allowed like public toilets, skywalks and bus shelters. And the court has explicitly said that any new alternative material needs to be approved by the court before being implemented. The next hearing would take place on 3rd Nov 2018.
