2020 has been a unique year so far. With the advertising revenue for the first half of the year totally wiped out by the pandemic, the festive season proved to be a much-needed relief. According to the TAM Adex data, TV ad volumes grew 19% during the festive season (Aug- Nov) in 2020 as compared to same time the previous year. Not only in terms of ad volume but also in terms of ad communication, this year was different. While like all years, the thought of love, caring, sharing and togetherness was the main theme, pandemic-specific concept like social distancing, digital adoption as well as supporting the local businesses were seen too. So, here’s our article covering the top Diwali ads 2020:
Bajaj Allianz Life
The ad titled Khusiyon Ka Return Gift urges people to be thoughtful about the gifts they share with people on Diwali- something that is useful and meaningful to people they care about.
Bank of Baroda
The ad titled Hum Karein Mumkin highlights the bank’s attractive rate of interest, easy loan takeover, waiver on the processing fee with longer tenure with a high amount of eligibility, and zero foreclosure charges.
Ad titled Deewaro Ki Suno urges people to spend on the celebrations, decorate their house not only to make their loved ones happy but also to support those whose livelihood depend on it.
This ad details about the behind the scene of a popular campaign run by Cadburys where they supported hundreds of local businesses by creating ads for them and showing them to the audience nearby (with help of pin-code tracking).

The ad highlights the product Ferrero Rocher and talks about it’s exotic taste and superior packaging.
The ad titled Ek Diye Se Do Ghar Roshan urges the audience to buy diwali diyas from local potters.
In the ad titled Light Up A Heart, the watchman of a closed office remembers the Diwali rituals of the company and misses the employees. The employees later surprise him by visiting with lights and sweets.
House of Hiranandani
The ad titled Beete Din recounts the small joys of daily life during the lockdown, spent with family, in one’s own home. The ad also highlights the rent back scheme of the real estate brand.
ICICI Lombard rolled out a video titled Restart Right on the occasion of Diwali, showcasing the positive impact of its efforts to support Mumbai Dabbawalas by donating them new bicycles and helmets.
iD Fresh Foods
iD’s latest Diwali ad is a tribute to the health workers who have left behind their families and are tirelessly working on getting the country disease free during this pandemic.
Jio Creative Labs
Ad titled Choose 2 Care was an activation campaign that showed people the adverse effect of firecrackers on stray animals and urged people to refrain from bursting noisy crackers.
JK Super Cement
Ad titled Thank You Doctors pays tribute to the doctors who have sacrificed their comfort and work life balance and have put themselves in danger while taking care of patients during this pandemic. The video shows the emotional turmoil of a doctor who’s on duty on Diwali night and can’t visit home.
Ad celebrating Diwali with Ameya Collection from Kalyan Jewellers stresses on the joy of togetherness that the festival brings.
Ad titled Khao Khelo Khush Raho tweaks the usual blessings elders give to the kids during Diwali and itinvolves gifting them Kinder Joy.

The ad titled Be The Light follows the story of two friends. One of them has saved a phooljhadi for his best friend as he has promised her last Diwali that she also would be celebrating it this year.
The ad follows the theme of spreading happiness by gifting the underprivileged. The video shows a family getting new clothes for the festival including their help and her son.
The ad titled Kare Rishton Ko Renovate highlights how often home renovation is not only about the home but new developments in personal life and relationships.
PayTM’s Diwali Ad shows a househelp expecting a Diwali bonus from his employer like every year. But to her disappointment, he chooses not to travel due to pandemic. However, he transfers the money to her bank account through PayTM, making her Diwali a joyous one.
Ad highlighting The Pepperfry Diwali Sale shows a father and daughter fighting over an armchair placed at a location with best wifi signals for his office calls and her online classes respectively. In the end, the father offers his daughter to select a new armchair for her, to be placed beside his.
Ad urges audience to take out their cosmetics and get ready despite the current scenarios that stop them from meeting other people.
