What are the guidelines advertisers should follow while making the artwork?
a. It is mandatory to have warning messages such as ' Do Not Use Your Phone While Driving' and ' Use Your Helmet While Riding' and it is imposed by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation. The warning message will be placed on the the back panel, driver side panel and passenger side panel of the bus. This warning message cannot be removed completely but it can be made smaller and the client can have a language preference between Kannada and English.
b. The ad cannot be placed on the space where the doors of the buses meet. The small gap has to be left in between the doors. Click here for clarity.
c. The ad cannot be placed on the windows of the bus.
d. The ad cannot be placed on the the top half of the front doors which is placed on the passenger side. However the ad can be placed on the bottom half of the front doors which is placed on the passenger side.
e. The company logo will also have to be written in Kannada. This is a mandatory rule from the BMTC. According to them at least 10 percent of the artwork has to be in Kannada.
If I have a campaign in which a bus on route 500 D is branded, will the bus remain on the same route throughout the campaign?
The Bus routes can change anytime according to the discretion of the BMTC. But mostly the routes of the bus remain the same.
For Example, if the bus which is branded is running on route 500 D the route of the bus can be changed to 335 E.
Why is the cost of the interior bus branding when taken separately less expensive as compared to the cost of the interior bus branding when taken along with the exterior bus branding?
This is because the BMTC charges different prices for the interior panels as compared to the interior panels taken along with the full bus.
What is non traditional advertising?
While there are many definitions the most acceptable one is based on revenue model.
Advertising in medium whose majority revenue does not come through advertising is called Non Traditional medium. For e.g. Major revenue for public transport buses come from ticketing but these buses also make some money by carrying ads.
