Aaj Tak recorded over 1 Million concurrent viewers on its YouTube channel, due to the 2022 assembly elections results coverage. Belonging to the India Today Group, it recently crossed 50 Million subscribers on YouTube. The channel has also qualified for a Ruby Play Button (channels reaching 50 Million subscribers), and is the world’s 1st news channel to receive this. 

The top news channels sold their ad inventory at 10 to 15 times more than their normal ad rates, all thanks to the assembly elections results. As per industry experts, during elections or such special live events, news channels generally eye for a bumper advertising revenue growth due to the spike in viewership. (Source: E4M)

According to BARC, television advertising volumes witnessed double-digit growth in 2021, compared to the last 2 years. Last year recorded the highest growth of 1,824 Million seconds of advertising volume, which is 22% and 18% higher than 2020 and 2019, respectively. 

The first day of the 58th DD Free Dish annual e-auction was held on 8th March. The channels that are going to be pulled out from the DD Free Dish are Zee Anmol, Star Utsav, Colors, Sony Pal and Rishtey. 

On the second day of DD Free Dish e-auction, 5 news channels that secured their slots for Bucket C (which includes English, Hindi and Punjabi news channels) are- ABP News, News Nation, Zee News, Times Now and Republic Bharat, while there are other channels still waiting. 

5paisa is partnering with Dailyhunt for expanding its reach in regional Indian languages. Dailyhunt serves more than 350 Mn users per month and offers daily content in 15 languages. The platform is broadening the content base for bringing various topics for its audience to choose from.

YuppTV Scope, the video streaming platform, has collaborated with an Indian video-on-demand streaming service AHA to offer exciting Telugu movies and shows. The content will be aimed at the Telugu speaking audience, especially focusing in the tier-2 & tier-3 regions.

According to BARC weekly data, the following were the top 5 paid TV channels in week 9 (26th February – 4th March 2022) – 

Paid–Sun TV, Star Maa, Star Utsav, STAR Plus, Dhinchaak.
